How to Get to SNIEC: Pudong Airport, Metro, Longyang Road Station and Where to Stay

Metro access to Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from Longyang Road Station and Huamu Road Station.

The Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) is in Pudong, near Longyang Road. For first-time visitors, two metro stops make the area much easier to understand:

Huamu Road Station = closer to the venue. Longyang Road Station = more transport options.

⚠️ NAME CONFUSION TO AVOID

In this guide, Huamu Road Station and Longyang Road Station always mean metro/transport stations, not the roads with similar English names. Use the full station name when searching in maps or comparing hotels.

What You Can Find Here

Huamu Road Station: Closer to the Venue

Huamu Road Station on Metro Line 7 sits next to SNIEC and is one of the most direct public-transport options.

It can work particularly well if you want to:

  • minimise walking;
  • attend the same show for several days;
  • get into the venue quickly each morning.

The exact registration entrance can vary by event, so check the organiser’s current visitor guide before travelling.

Longyang Road Station: More Connections

Longyang Road Station is the main transport hub near SNIEC.

It connects with:

  • Metro Line 2;
  • Metro Line 7;
  • the Shanghai Maglev;
  • buses and road transport.

From Longyang Road Station, SNIEC is within walking distance for many visitors, or you can take Line 7 one stop to Huamu Road Station.

When this area can be more useful

Longyang Road Station is worth considering if your itinerary includes more than a simple hotel-to-venue commute, for example:

  • travelling to Pudong Airport;
  • going into other parts of Shanghai;
  • visiting other business locations;
  • making frequent transfers.

Option 1: Metro

Travel toward Longyang Road Station, then either:

  • walk to SNIEC; or
  • transfer to Line 7 and continue to Huamu Road Station.

Option 2: Maglev + Longyang Road Station

The Shanghai Maglev is the airport rail link between Pudong Airport and Longyang Road Station — think of it as a dedicated airport connector rather than a citywide metro line. If the operating schedule fits your arrival time, you can use it to reach Longyang Road Station and continue to SNIEC.

Option 3: Taxi or ride-hailing

This can be convenient if you:

  • have large luggage;
  • are travelling as a group;
  • want to go directly to your hotel or a specific venue entrance.

Travel time and cost vary with traffic and time of day, so this guide does not use fixed estimates.

From the Hongqiao Area

From Hongqiao Airport or Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, Metro Line 2 provides a direct eastbound corridor toward Pudong.

Once you reach the Longyang Road Station area, you can decide whether to:

  • walk;
  • transfer to Line 7;
  • use road transport.

On very busy exhibition days, compare the real-time routes for Longyang Road Station and Huamu Road Station rather than assuming one will always be faster.

Hotel shuttles

Some hotels may operate exhibition shuttles during specific major events. This should be treated as an event-specific service, not a permanent hotel feature.

Before booking, ask:

  • which dates the shuttle operates;
  • where it departs;
  • whether reservations are required;
  • whether it is limited to certain guests or room types.

Arriving and Leaving on Show Days

Different SNIEC events may use different halls and registration zones.

Before arrival, check:

  • the visitor entrance;
  • the registration hall;
  • ID or badge requirements;
  • the venue map.

When leaving, Longyang Road Station can be a useful alternative if Huamu Road Station is heavily congested.
